Prem Rooplal brings a finance leader’s perspective to coaching
The Ultimate Mind founder connects decades of organizational experience with a practical focus on how people respond under pressure
Before Prem Rooplal began coaching, his work involved presenting projects to a board, working with clients and developing business opportunities. As a senior finance leader, he was accustomed to decisions that needed to be explained, supported and carried through. Today, he brings that experience to a different kind of conversation: helping people examine the recurring responses that influence how they decide and act.
Through Ultimate Mind, Prem works with executives and individuals who want more choice in how they respond to demanding situations. His executive coaching has a particular focus on senior finance leaders. The connection to his earlier career is direct: he understands the responsibilities they carry and is interested in what happens when pressure makes it harder to use their judgment well.
A career grounded in responsibility
Prem spent more than 18 years with the Ontario Clean Water Agency, including serving as Vice President, Finance and Corporate Services from 2016 to 2020. He joined the agency in 2001 as Manager of Accounting and Financial Analysis. His background includes a degree from the University of Toronto and the Chartered Professional Accountant designation.
Before joining OCWA, he worked for 16 years in the private sector, across manufacturing, construction, retail and pharmaceutical research and development. That breadth gave him experience of different organizational settings long before he established his coaching practice.
In describing the connection between his two careers, Prem points to both the external demands of leadership and the internal patterns that shape a person’s response. A consequential decision may require sound analysis, but it also requires someone to make it, explain it and work with the people affected. His coaching starts with the person carrying that responsibility.
From finance leadership to personal change
Prem began coaching in 2022 and developed Ultimate Mind to bring together coaching, music and learning experiences. His training includes certification as a business coach through Evercoach by Mindvalley.
His initial emphasis is on senior finance executives whose substantial responsibilities may be accompanied by overthinking, self-doubt or difficulty switching off. A newly appointed leader adjusting to greater visibility has different circumstances from an experienced executive navigating organizational change. Both may benefit from a place to examine how they are responding and what they want to do next.
The aim is a conversation grounded in the individual’s situation. Prem wants people to leave an introductory discussion with a clearer view of the issue and a practical next step, whether or not they choose a paid engagement. That intention keeps the relationship focused on usefulness from the beginning.
Working with the decisions in front of you
Executive Clarity Under Pressure is Ultimate Mind’s 90-day engagement for CFOs and senior finance leaders. It comprises 12 private sessions, with progress reviewed at the beginning, midpoint and completion. The work begins with a current leadership challenge and considers the organizational context alongside recurring personal responses.
The questions are practical. Which decision keeps returning without resolution? What conversation has become difficult to begin? Where does a familiar reaction narrow the options?
Coaching goals are connected to observable changes in working life, such as addressing a difficult conversation sooner or spending less time repeatedly second-guessing a decision. The client remains responsible for their choices. The purpose is to create room to examine assumptions, try a different response and review what happens.
Personal change beyond a job title
Prem’s work also includes the Personal Breakthrough Program, individual coaching for people navigating change or patterns they want to understand. The starting point may be uncertainty about the future, a recurring reaction or an insight that has been difficult to put into practice.
The program provides extended working sessions, integration appointments and later reviews. This allows attention to move from understanding a pattern to applying different choices in everyday situations. Goals are agreed with the individual, and progress is considered through their observations and experience.
Ultimate Mind describes its services as professional coaching and education. The work is not therapy, medical treatment or financial advice, and individual outcomes are not guaranteed. Those boundaries help people decide whether the service matches the support they need.
Coaching alongside music and learning
Music and learning experiences are also part of Prem’s work through Ultimate Mind. They reflect his interest in offering different ways for people to engage with personal development.
Across his work, the connection is the same one that brought him from finance leadership to coaching: understanding how people respond, and helping them make a more considered choice. For someone carrying a difficult decision, the first step can be modest: bring the real situation into a conversation and give it focused attention.
